Advanced Resuscitation Techniques

DESCRIPTION


This course deals with the provision of advanced first aid resuscitation techniques, life support and management of casualty(s), until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to other providers in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This course is Nationally Accredited.

 

 

Course content

Subjects covered in the course includes: resuscitation equipment ready for use

  • Apply bag and mask resuscitation techniques

  • Attach and operate an AED

  • Administer oxygen

  • Operate suction equipment

  • Restore and maintain equipment ready for future use

 

 

Prerequisites

Students must be 14 years or older and be qualified in one of the following:

  • HLTFA301B Apply First Aid

  • HLTFA201A Perform CPR

  • HLTFA201A Provide Emergency Life Support

 

 

Course duration

Minimum of 4 hours.

 

 

Assessment method

Demonstration of practical skills and a written quiz

 

 

Course award

Participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded a Nationally Accredited certification. This course is valid for 1 year.

 



LECTURER

Lecturing is conducted by Anthony Hann who is a full-time Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic with Ambulance Victoria.
