CPR TRAINING AND UPDATES

HLTCPR201A - Perform CPR

DESCRIPTION


This unit of study consists of gaining skills and knowledge to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This course is Nationally Accredited.

 

Course content

Subjects covered in the course includes:

  • History of CPR

  • Chain of survival

  • Assess the situation using the DRABC and recognise those requiring resuscitation

  • Managing the unconscious patient

  • Provide one and two person CPR

  • Introduction to Automated External Defibrillator

 

Prerequisites

Participants must be 14 yrs of age and CPR update courses require previous CPR training.

 

Course duration

Minimum of 2 hours training.

 

Assessment method

Demonstration of practical skills and a written quiz

 

Course award

Participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded a Nationally Accredited certification. This course is valid for 1 year, and CPR refresher training must be undertaken annually for this qualification to remain current. .



LECTURER

Lecturing is conducted by Anthony Hann who is a full-time Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic with Ambulance Victoria.
