DESCRIPTION This course provides information and training on the timely provision of first aid assistance to a person suffering acute allergic reaction or Anaphylaxis. It provides useful training for parents, childcare workers and teachers responsible for the care of individual/s with a recognised life threatening allergic sensitivity in the workplace, school, kindergarten or home. Training is delivered to be consistent with current Victorian Government Department of Human Services policy and Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines. This training session provides the participants with the knowledge and skills to identify the signs and symptoms of an anaphylactic reaction and includes training in the use of the Epipen.
Course content Subjects covered in the course includes:
Prerequisites There is a requirement to be a minimum of 14 years of age and have a current CPR Certificate.
Course duration Minimum of 2 hours.
Assessment method Demonstration of practical skills and a written quiz
Course award & ReCERTIFICATION This certificate is valid for 1 year. Anaphylaxis Refresher training should be undertaken on an annual basis (including annual CPR Refresher). Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment is accredited by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority.
Lecturing is conducted
by Anthony Hann who is a full-time Mobile Intensive Care Paramedicwith Ambulance
