This course provides the first aider with the knowledge and skills to safely utilise various types of oxygen equipment in assisting the injured or ill person.

Course content

Subjects covered in the course includes:

• Assess the situation and recognise those requiring Advanced Resuscitation

• Provide oxygen therapy

• Operate suction equipment 

• Prepare and restore oxygen equipment

• Use of bag and mask device and oxygen equipment

• Provide reports

There is a requirement to have a current Level 2 Workplace First Aid Certificate.

Course duration

Minimum of 4 hours.

Assessment method

Demonstration of practical skills and a written quiz

Course award

On successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency valid for 1 year.

LECTURER

Lecturing is conducted by Anthony Hann who is a full-time Mobile Intensive Care Officer with Ambulance Victoria.
